Driving times

Strategically located between the markets of Boston, New York, and Montreal, Canada, Rutland is on the shipping routes of major trucking firms, and more than 20 trucking firms are located in the area. The city is situated at the intersection of U.S. highways 4 and 7, providing east-west and north-south access and linking the region with interstates 89, 91 and 87.

The time to drive to major destinations is as follows:
Montreal – 3 hours Boston – 3 hours
Springfield/Hartford – 2.5 hours New York – 4.5 hours

Many trucking firms offer local, intrastate and interstate service from Rutland at competitive rates.

Rail
80% of all rail freight entering and leaving Vermont goes through the Rutland railyard.

Rutland has daily Amtrak service to New York’s Penn Station.

Air
All of the major national and international package delivery services operate in the city.


Cape Air, a JetBlue affiliate, will begin offering three daily round trip flights to Boston on October 31, 2007. Presently, CommutAir is providing two round trips daily to Boston, and will terminate that service upon the commencement of service by Cape Air (www.flycapeair.com).
